Notice to T-Ball Parents

Parents of T-Ball aged children;

Thank you for signing up your little one for Little League!!
This notice has been established to alert all T-ball parents to rules that apply to children that are eligible for this division.

This 2012 season Jourdanton Little League has opted to allow 4 year olds play in our league per the Little League Intl. rule change in 2011.  Due to this change your child may play t-ball for up to three years, depending on the age and sex of your child and when they begin their Little League career.  In T-ball both boys and girls “League Age” is determined by the boys age limits of April 30th of each seasonal year.  Once a girl is eligible for machine pitch she is then categorized as a girl for her division of play with an age limit date of December 31st of the year prior to the season.

Example:
Boy – DOB: April 9, 2006 is league age 6 – eligible for machine pitch division
Girl – DOB: January 2, 2006 is league age 5 – previously considered league age 6 for T-ball is now considered league age 5 for softball and must play another year of T-ball.

Players who are league age 4-6 are eligible to be selected to a Tee Ball team.  Players who are league age 6 that have participated for one regular season in the Tee Ball Division are eligible to be selected to a Minor League Division machine pitch team.  But girls, to be eligible for machine pitch have to be at least league age 6.  In this example given the girl is league age 6 as a boy and league age 5 as a girl and would have to play T-ball for an additional year to be eligible to play machine pitch softball.

Additionally, any child who has played their required time in T-ball and is eligible for machine pitch will not necessarily be drafted to play in the machine pitch division.  League age 6 children, who are eligible for machine pitch, must participate in league try-outs if they desire to be considered for the machine pitch draft.  Participation in try-outs does not guarantee that your child will be drafted to play up into that division.  If your child is not drafted to play in the machine pitch division they will be included in the T-ball draft.  The board of directors or parents have no say in where children are placed and whether or not they are drafted up. This decision lies solely with the managers that are observing try-outs.
